Welcome to gowmanmusic.com

Welcome to East Rochester 7-12 Instrumental Music! The goal of this program is to provide an incredibly rich experience in music by encouraging and challenging students musically, creatively, and intellectually, and courses have been created, enhanced, and modified to best serve our student population. At the secondary level, our unique course selection includes everything from standard wind bands to a percussion ensemble, to a jazz band based on improvisation in which students often create their own arrangements. Extra-curriculars include an authentic experience in our famous Irish music program and the popular acoustic and electric music showcase concerts known as Coffeehouse. Students in grades 7-12 participate in six different  ensembles: Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band (9-12), Junior High Band, Junior High Jazz Band, Percussion Ensemble (Drumline), and our exceptional Celtic Music Society. Mr. Gowman also teaches the 9-12 general music course.

Alumni of the ERHS Instrumental Music program are active as performers and attend music schools including the Crane School, Berklee, Syracuse, Purchase College, and Eastman; as well as SUNY Fredonia, Geneseo, and Monroe and Finger Lakes Community Colleges.

Musical opportunities are also available at the ERHS music technology lab and our in-house ProTools recording studio. Future rock stars, be sure to check out the guitar page.
